Sunny’s Sushi is a Japanese restaurant in El Paso, Texas. In a previous project, the restaurant received a full rebrand, complete with a redesigned logo, menu, collateral, and a full brand style guide. For this project, I focused on redesigning their website using the new identity previously created. My goal was to keep expanding their brand through the use of design elements and a uniform layout, making sure to keep the idea of Japanese culture in mind.
The first step before designing the website was to choose the content that would be added. For this, I referenced the restaurant’s original website. Much of the content was kept unaltered and was organized to create a more streamlined experience for the user.
After gathering all of the necessary content for the site, I began organizing it into a more organic layout. For the home page, I wanted to keep in mind which information was most important for a new customer to see.
I created a persona to help better understand a customer’s wants and needs for the website. It helped guide my thinking as I organized my information and decided on what would be best suited for a customer’s needs.
To start the design, I created various sketches for the homepage, keeping in mind the restaurant’s established style and other design elements to be added.

After determining the layout of the homepage, I created prototypes to decide how the rest of the site would look based on my chosen layout.

I enjoyed being able to continue expanding Sunny’s Sushi’s brand identity. It was challenging at first, since it involved using new software to build the website. I am proud of how the end product turned out, especially since I often find myself struggling with interactive projects.
