Sunny’s Sushi brings a fresh, modern take on authentic Japanese dining to El Paso. Rooted in the warmth and culture of Japan, we craft every roll with care, blending premium ingredients, vibrant flavors, and a welcoming atmosphere that feels like home, even in the heart of Texas. From the moment guests walk through our doors, they’re met with authenticity, comfort, and the joy of truly good food.

At Sunny’s Sushi, we share the flavors of Japan with our Texas community, no passport required. We combine thoughtful design, fresh ingredients, and genuine hospitality to create meaningful dining moments for everyone who visits. Good food, good vibes, and the spirit of Japan come together here to make each visit unforgettable.

Sunny’s was founded by Sunny Ji and his family, who immigrated to El Paso from their native Korea in 2008. That’s when they opened their first location on Viscount, near Cielo Vista Mall.

Sunny’s is a family-run operation — Anna An, who is Sunny’s daughter, has been part of the business as well. The name “Sunny’s” comes from the matriarch of the family, Sunny, who co-runs the restaurant alongside her husband, Michelle (Ji).

By 2019, a decade after opening, the family had grown the business to a fourth location at the Canyons at Cimarron in Northwest El Paso — which was the subject of the article you linked. The expansion was driven by a simple but genuine motivation: Ji and his family just wanted to offer El Paso a quality option, and over the years sushi became something the city widely embraced.
